Joan Sebastian Dies; Mexican Singer Was 64

Joan Sebastian, a beloved Mexican singer known to fans as "El Rey Del Jaripeo," sadly passed away earlier this week at the age of 64.

He died at his family’s ranch in Juliantla, Guerrero, Mexico.

Sebastian, who had been battling bone cancer since 1999, was a staple on the Mexican music charts since all the way back in 1977.

The crooner won seven Latin Grammy Awards and five Grammy Awards, the most of any Mexican performer in the nation’s history.

In 2006, Sebastian was inducted into the Billboard Latin Music Hall of Fame, and many of his albums are still popular to this day.
